Q. I understand that spelling, grammar and proper use of language is important on a web site to make it appear professional. But what about companies that aren't in the U.S. and have different "rules" of language.
A. Good question! I, myself have probably been remiss in not making it clear that certain concessions are necessary in these areas for companies based in countries other than the USA.
We sometimes forget that the Internet is worldwide and we can't judge someone who is struggling with a language that is foreign to them - as long as they are doing everything they can do. I personally commend them for their efforts to communicate in anything other than their native language and see no reason to put them under any further pressure.
Although I've heard that 95% of Internet users are in the U.S., this won't always be true. Eventually we will have a higher percentage of users in other countries and we cannot expect them to use perfect English. Their contact information on their web sites should help people understand - once they see that this company is located in a non-English speaking country.
Even people in the UK, Canada and Australia use different punctuation and spelling than we do it the USA. I have a friend in the U.K. who told me that HE speaks English - and I speak American. So - who is correct?
This is something we are going to have to live with when working in an International medium. We cannot judge another's professionalism in this case by their command of the English language.
We all need to remember that the USA isn't the be-all/end-all of the Internet. To believe that it is severely limits our options. In the interests for increasing our options - we will need to show some tolerance for those seeking to communicate with us in a language which is foreign to them.

Economical Use of Banner Ads On Your Web Site! by Joe Reinbold
Ever go to a site and there were a dozen or so banners and it took forever for the page to load? If you are selling your own product or service or selling for affiliate programs that you belong to, you probably have banner ads available.
Most affiliate programs will have a good selection of promotional tools for you to use when you sign up. Banners are usually one of the tools that you are given. If you are trying to develop multiple income streams you probably are associated with a number of affiliate programs like we are. Some can be for products, some for services and some may be network marketing type programs. Plus as I mentioned earlier, you may also have your own products/services too.
No matter what the type of program or product you are offering, the one thing that you want to do is get exposure for them so you get sales or member sign ups. For purposes of this discussion let's say you are associated with eight such programs or products.
So here you have eight different banners you want to get prospects to click on to increase your income stream. What do you do? Do you place eight different banners on your web page? I wouldn't! First it doesn't look very professional to have a page cluttered up with eight to ten different banners. Secondly, it will probably make your page load very slowly and you will then create what I call "click aways", when someone is waiting for your page to load and it takes so long that they just click another link to another site.
What's the solution? Get yourself a rotating banner script. You can get it free and it really isn't that hard to set up. What is a rotating banner script? The one we use is a cgi based script which allows you to load as many banners into it as you want to rotate and place a short one line of html code on your page. Each time a new visitor goes to your page a new banner comes up automatically. If you want to see one in action, go to one of our pages at: http://www.homebizlink.com/newslt.htm The banner on the top of the page is on a rotating script. Let the banner load and then hit your browser "refresh" button and you will see another banner come up in its place. Repeat it as many times as you want, and it will randomly select a new banner from the twelve or so we have loaded into the script.
One other neat thing about this is that you can have the banners rotate on as many pages as you want and you only need to set the script up once on your site. We have it on about 20 pages of our site. All it takes is to put that one short line of code on the html page you want the banners to appear on. The more pages you have it on, the more exposure you get. If someone surfs six pages of your site and your happen to have the banner script on those pages, there is a good chance they will see six different banners.
So where do you get it? While there are a number of the scripts available both for free and for a fee, we got ours for free from Cliff's Perl Scripts site. Just go to his site at: http://www.shavenferret.com/scripts and look for "Cliff's Banner Rotator Version 2.51". There was a link to it right on the first page the last time we were there. Then just download the files (there's only 3 small ones), follow the easy directions and upload it to your site.
It is a great way to get exposure for the multiple activities that you might be involved in. You can put 2, 5, 8 or 12 like we have. You could even put different banners from the same program (we have two from the same program in the rotation). Be creative! You could even sell space on a rotating script! Take a look at it and see if you might be able to use it to your advantage and create a more economical use of your web real estate.

How to Easily Market any Product and Make Money By Chuck Crawley
Are you confused about marketing your product on the Net?
Don't stress yourself. All you need is a little guidance to get you moving on the *right* track.
First make sure that the product/service that you selected *fits* your personality, knowledge level and passions. If you don't have a passion for your product/service, then drop it and find another. Your passion for your product is key to your success. So, take another look.
You are the expert for the product/service that you have to offer. Concentrate on that one fact alone. Become the expert in your target market. The best way to approach this is by studying your product or service. Pick out three of the most appealing benefits of your product/service that would interest your target market.
Next write an informative article that would be helpful to your target market for each of the three benefits that you offer. Remember that you are the expert. Write from your own experiences. Create a story about an actual event that happened to you concerning your product/service. Maybe of list of problems that your target market may face and how your services can solved them.
Here are the steps.
1. Write your first draft with no concern about spelling or grammar. Just concentrate on the subject matter. Try to complete it in one sitting.
2. Put it away for an hour or two maybe even until the next day. You'll notice that your subconscious mind will continue to work on the article until you get back to it. More ideas will pop into your mind by the time you pick it up again.
3. Read and rewrite the article. Again, don't worry about the spelling or grammar yet. Put it away again.
4. Now you can edit the draft with your spell and grammar checker. You can underline or bold the most important words or phrases.
Use a Thesaurus to substitute words that are *weak* with power words that get your point across.
Eliminate words that are unnecessary in each sentence of your article.
Use short paragraphs. Makes for easier reading.
5. Give it to your spouse or friend to read. They will be able to help you edit and give you opinions. Ask them questions about the points that you were trying to make in the article. What information did they get from reading your article?
6. Do a final once over.
Now you have Three Powerful Articles written by the expert in your field. That expert is YOU. You are the only person who matters. If you know your product or service, then, you must become the expert. Using the experience that you have obtained in your field of expertise. Converting this experience to writing is the most Powerful asset that you possess.
What can you do with this information? Here are a few suggestions.
Convert these articles to web pages. Do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you. If you are going to use the search engines, develop keywords that only apply to your own little *niche* market. Stay away from the general keywords. 10,000 hits a month is great but if it is not targeted towards your specific product or service than you are just wasting your time. You would be better off with 1000 targeted hits to your site, so concentrate on *targeted niche* keywords and phrases. I would highly recommend that you get help in this area.

Use ezines to spread your articles around. Send your articles to ezine editors in your targeted market. There are literally thousands of Ezines around now. Go to any search engine and search for "Ezines". You will get a ton of hits. Go though and pick out the best Ezines for your target market and send them your article. Most ezine editors are begging for content.

Use Publications. Many print publications accept articles. Find them and send your article to as many as you can.
The possibilities are enormous once you have put it all in writing. The Internet is the greatest information source ever created by man. Use it to your advantage.
